Hi Everyone!
As you know, I am starting graduate
school in January so I need to have vaccines and a physical and all this other
stuff to get ready for that. On my
schedule this morning was my physical exam.
I started out at this one doctor’s office and I was back in the room and
filled out the paper work I needed to and answered all the questions with the
nurse and told her I had a form I needed filled out by the doctor. We go out in the hallway for her to take my
weight and after she looked directly at me and in the most soft, serious voice
and asked, “Do you need to empty your bladder?”
I do not know why that question took me so off guard and I had to try not
to burst out laughing (I do not think she thought it was a funny question). The thoughts that raced through my mind were:
“does she think I weigh too much so I must be carrying around some extra ounces
in my bladder?”, “am I going to have to pee in a cup?”, “why didn’t she just
ask if I had to pee?” I just answered “no”
and we went on with the almost exam. The
doctor came in the room and looked at my form and she told me they do not do
that kind of physical there. I just
informed her the website said “complete physical exam” but apparently the
website should say “almost” complete physical exams. She told me where I needed to go and sent me
on my way without being billed (bless up!) but also a huge waste of my time! (but I guess I should have asked the right
questions when I called to schedule the appointment so, my fault.) I did end up having my physical done
somewhere else so “it’s fine!”.
I told my husband this morning I
would go to the grocery store because he did not have the supplies to make the
sandwich he normally takes for lunch (woops!)
So on my way home from the doctor I ran into Kroger’s. When I get stressed, I get hungry and this
morning’s doctor mix up kind of stressed me out. Fun fact about me (and most people probably),
I should not be allowed to go grocery shopping when I am hungry. I went in there for two things and I came out
with around 10. I did not need most of
what I bought. I am trying to watch what
I eat without calling it a diet. I like
to think of it as being smarter about my food choices without counting any insert
nutrition facts category here. We
are just going to call today’s trip to the store a loss on that front! But I did buy one thing that I do not feel
too bad about. I do not know if anyone
has heard of Halo Top ice cream but they are a creamery that sells ice cream in
pints that range anywhere from 240-360 calories in the whole pint. They had their pint of “lemon cake” on sale
today. (Another fun fact about me, I am
a lover of all things lemon and most citrus in general) Of course I had to buy
it! I had a spoonful before I wrote this
blog post and it is pretty good!! I was slightly skeptical but I can tell you
that it does not taste healthy. (No this is not an official review, I just thought I'd do my readers a favor and fill you in)
So I hit a little road bump at the
doctor’s office and bought bad food at the store but you know what? “It’s fine!” I got my physical taken care of and I saved
$0.30 on overpriced but "healthy" ice cream! Until next time…
